The 58th Tactical Training Wing was stationed at Luke AFB, Arizona. This is the Wing were the operational life of the F-15 started. The 58th TTW was the first unit to receive the F-15A/B's in 1974. The Wing was actually designated as 58 Tactical Fighter Training Wing, but changed to TTW in april 1977. The F-15' period of the 58th was short lived in 1979 t he F-15's were transferred from the 58th TTW to the 405th TTW  and the 405th became the new RTU F-15 Wing in the USAF. In 19.. the F-15's from the 405th TTW were transferred back again to the 58th which was a Fighter Wing. This was a short lived period of the F-15E with the 58th Fighter Wing. On April 1st 1994 the 58th Fighter deactivated and all it's squadron were moved to the newly stationed 56th Fighter Wing at Luke AFB, becoming the world's biggest  F-16 training Wing. The remaining F-15E's moved to the newly formed 333rd FS at Seymour-Johnson AFB.
