The 5th Fighter Interceptor
Squadron was stationed at Minot AFB, North Dakota. The 5th FIS received the
first F-15A/B's in 1985 replacing the F-106A's. It must have been the
shortest F-15 squadron ever, the unit was deactivated that same year and the
F-15's were transferred to the 101st Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Otis
AFB, Massachusetts. The patch shown on this page is not the actual F-15
squadron patch but the F-106 era squadron patch.
